The scalable excavation map used in the Excavations chapter is new to this edition and replaces the static maps used in previous editions. This new map also is the source for the rasterized plans of the individual 10-ft excavation squares. The current excavation map is provided for download in AutoCAD Exchange format (dxf). This file format is compatible with virtually all CAD and vector-drawing programs, and it can be printed at any size with no loss in image quality. The map includes a title, scale, north arrow, grid coordinates, archaeological features, and feature labels.
