Feature 23 was located within Structure 5 at 291.1R20.0; it measured 1.9 ft by 2.2 ft in plan view and was 1.5 ft deep. At the top of the subsoil, this pit displayed an irregular shape due to plow smearing. Fill consisted of a dark brown loam that contained charcoal, animal bones, lead shot, and glass trade beads. There was also a thin lens of sandy soil in the northeast quadrant of the feature.
